"Cerveja Só” is a project created for the class Advanced Project - Production and Distribution, in PUC-Rio (Brazil, 2015). The project consistis in the development of a new material: a paper and a fiberboard made of the organic matter obtained in the beer craft.
To achieve the materials we were pursuing, we worked together with a teacher from the Chemistry department of our college, who helped us understand the process of making the materials and how we would make ours.
After 3 months of research, tests and failures, we achieved the paper in an exclusive process we created. The beer paper is made 100% out of the beer residue, meaning that, there’s no normal paper in our production, common thing in other recycling paper processes.
To display our materials, we created a new packaging for craft beers: the beer fiberboard is a holder for the beer bottles and also can be used as a tray to use at home; the paper is used for wrapping the bottles and tray.
